Myra Cochnar - In Loving Memory

It is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to Myra Cochnar, a true force in our community and the beloved founder of Landmark Musicals. I have had the privilege of knowing Myra for over three decades. I first met her performing in ACLOA shows in the 90s and later working alongside her, not only as a choreographer but also as her associate producer. In that time, I witnessed firsthand the extraordinary passion, kindness, and dedication that defined her life.

Myra’s vision for Landmark Musicals was uncompromising: to deliver high-quality productions of classic and contemporary musicals, always anchored by the unmistakable, rich sound of a live orchestra. She believed in the transformative power of live music and theater, and she worked tirelessly—truly one of the hardest working people I have ever known—to ensure that vision was realized on stage after stage.

I will forever be grateful for the artistic and professional opportunities she generously extended to me. Beyond the choreography, my time working with Myra as an associate producer was an education. She taught me so much about the nuts and bolts of producing and the vital importance of engaging with and building community through the arts.

Yet, as impressive as her professional legacy is, what I will treasure most is her unrivaled kindness and warmth. Myra had a profound capacity for connection, and that extended deeply into my personal life. She became a cherished member of my family, forming a special bond with my two boys. She was there for significant family events, including their baptisms, a testament to the depth of her caring and her generous spirit.

Myra Cochnar has left an indelible mark on our local arts scene and on the hearts of everyone who knew her. Her commitment to excellence, her incredible work ethic, and her profound human kindness will be missed beyond measure.

Our performances of The Sound of Music will be dedicated to Myra in remembrance and honor of her life. Performances will be held at Rodey Theater, November 21-30, 2025.

May her memory be a blessing and may the music she championed continue to play.

Sincerely,

Louis Giannini
