Landmark Musicals is excited to present NEWSIES, a musical based on the Disney film!
Disney’s Newsies is a exhilarating tale of Jack Kelly, a charismatic newsboy and leader of the band of teenaged “newsies” who fight against the establishment. Inspired by a true story in turn-of-the century (1899) New York City, where publishing giants Pulitzer, Hearst and other powerful New York newspaper publishers raise distribution prices at the newsboys’ expense and Jack Kelly rallies the newsboys and leads the rebellion. The Broadway musical is based on the 1992 motion picture which features a Tony Award-winning score by Alan Menken (Little Shop, Little Mermaid, Beauty and the Beast, Aladdin) and Jack Feldman and a book by Tony Award winner Harvey Fierstein (Kinky Boots, Hairspray, La Cage aux Folles). The show features the classic songs “Carrying the Banner,” “Seize the Day,” and “Santa Fe.” Newsies is a high energy show full of dancing and singing, perfect for the entire family.
