Please prepare a song of no more than one minute. You may sing from the show.  Bring your music in a three-ring binder, with pages taped back-to-back.  Your sheet music needs to be in the correct key, with an accompaniment line, not just the vocal line. An accompanist will be provided.

SHOW SYNOPSIS

Based on the popular comic strip Little Orphan Annie by Harold Gray, Annie has become a worldwide phenomenon and was the winner of seven Tony Awards, including Best Musical. The beloved book and score by Tony Award winners, Thomas Meehan, Charles Strouse and Martin Charnin, features some of the greatest musical theatre hits ever written, including “Tomorrow.”

With equal measures of pluck and positivity, little orphan Annie charms everyone’s hearts despite a next-to-nothing start in 1930s New York City. She is determined to find the parents who abandoned her years ago on the doorstep of a New York City Orphanage that is run by the cruel, embittered Miss Hannigan. With the help of the other girls in the Orphanage, Annie escapes to the wondrous world of NYC. In adventure after fun-filled adventure, Annie foils Miss Hannigan’s evil machinations… and even befriends President Franklin Delano Roosevelt! She finds a new home and family in billionaire Oliver Warbucks, his personal secretary, Grace Farrell, and a lovable mutt named Sandy.

CHARACTER BREAKDOWN (Age ranges are approximate)

Annie (This role will be double cast) – A street-wise orphan; she is eventually taken in by Oliver Warbucks. Spunky, friendly, big-voiced. This role requires a strong stage presence, vocal and physical stamina, and prior theatrical experience. Must like dogs. Gender: Female | Age: 10 to 12 | Vocal range: A3 to G5

Warbucks – A successful businessman with a warm heart. Rich, stiff-collared, bullish.Gender: Male | Age: 40 to 60 | Vocal range: B3 to Gb5

Grace Farrell – Faithful secretary to Mr. Oliver Warbucks. Poised, sweet, gentle. Gender: Female | Age: 20 to 35 | Vocal range: Bb3 to G5

Orphans (we are looking for girls age 7-14) – The other girls in the orphanage with Annie. These girls are gritty, neglected and vulnerable, yet basically honest and potentially loveable. Includes Molly, Kate, Tessie, Pepper, July, and Duffy. Gender: Female | Age: 6 to 35 

Servants – The servants at the Warbucks mansion including Drake, the English butler, Mrs. Pugh, the cook, Mrs. Greer, the housekeeper, Cecille and Annette, the maids. Gender: Any | Age: 20 to 65 

Miss Hannigan – The orphanage matron who hates children but is fond of liquor. Very disillusioned, bitter, and cold. Gender: Female | Age: 45 to 65 | Vocal range: A3 to F5

Rooster Hannigan – Miss Hannigan’s no-good brother looking for a quick buck. A sleazy, slick con man. Gender: Male | Age: 25 to 55 | Vocal range: B3 to G5

Lily St. Regis – Rooster’s girlfriend, who is also out for a quick buck. She is considered to be a floozy and bimbo. Gender: Female | Age: 25 to 40 | Vocal range: B3 to G5

Star To Be – Young wanna-be Broadway star hopeful.  Solo singing in NYC Gender: Female | Age: 16 to 25 | Vocal range: B3 to E5

Bert Healy – The ultimate radio personality. Great speaking voice. He helps Annie by broadcasting about the search for her birth parents. Gender: Male | Age: 30 to 45 | Vocal range: E3 to G5

President Roosevelt – The 32nd President of the United States. A Democrat and friend of Warbucks. Gender: Male | Age: 40 to 65 | Vocal range: Eb3 to F4

Ensemble – Servants (Drake, Mrs. Greer, Mrs. Pugh), Boylan Sisters, Cabinet Members, Hooverville Citizens Gender: Any | Age: 16+ 

Sandy – A lovable mutt, who takes direction well.  Must like treats and children. Housebroken. Gender: Any | Age: 2+ | Vocal Range: No howling or excessive barking
